夏のフィンランド出張（エストニア） - Business trip to Tallinn, Estonia

前回のフィンランド記より少し時間が経ってしまいましたが、本日は夏出張のエストニア編をお届けしたいと思います。


エストニア訪問の最大の目的は、Nordika Nisseの製造現場を見に行くこと。

日本で何百体と販売されているニッセが、どのような土地でどのような過程で息づいていくのか、ニッセの原点をたどる旅でした。


Today we would like to share our story about a visit to Tallinn, Estonia, where all the Nordika Nisses are born.

ヘルシンキにて。ニッセと旅した北欧出張でした。

工房はエストニア、タリンにあるタリン空港からさほど遠くない町の中にありました。
The workshop is located not that far from Tallinn airport.

事務所には過去のニッセのポートフォリオ。

Nisses' history is here in the office.

始まりは小さなパーツからです。

木のかけら（これは最後ニッセの鼻になります！！！）から木の実、ニッセの帽子などが工房のいたるところに保管されています。

Nisse is only a small piece of wood at the beginning.
From the wooden piece (eventually Nisse's nose-to-be!), tiny berries to wool hat, there are a lot of Nisses' parts and belongings everywhere in the workshop.

木のかけらはカットされ、形成され、穴を開け、磨かれて柔らかい質感に生まれ変わります。
穴をあけているのはニッセの足になる部分、やすりで削ってカーブを着けているのはニッセのスキー板です。

Wooden pieces get cut, shaped, put holes, and polished to have a soft-touch feeling.
The ones with hole are to-be-Nisse's feet, long sheet is to-be-Nisse's ski.

そしてペイント。And colored.

手慣れた作業で接着していく女性職人さん。

さらに組立作業へと入ります。
小さな小さなパーツたちがここで体となり足となり、また顔となり、少しずつ命が吹き込まれてきます。

Small wooden parts are assembled here and Nisses' bodies, foot, faces are getting shaped.

見覚えのある持ち物たち

そうして、数々の工程とたくさんの職人さんたちの愛情を受け、ノルディカの木製人形は完成します。

すべての工程がハンドメイド。ひとつとして同じ人形はありません。

All the process are handmade receiving much craftsman's love.

Not a single figurine is the same as others, which makes them more special and lovable.

実際に木の粉が飛び、一過程ずつ少しずつ命が吹き込まれ、見覚えのある人形へと完成していく現場を見て、ニッセたちへの愛情がより深まりました。

By actually seeing how Nisses' are produced and lives were breathed into them, we could not help loving Nisses much deeper.

街の気温はうんと寒くなりました。私は昨日ニッセたちを箱から取り出しました。

寒い冬をあたたかい気持ちで乗り越えられる、ニッセたちを今一度、じーっと見つめてみてください。

彼らが受けてきた愛情がそこには反映され、また彼らはその愛情をわたしたちにそっと渡してくれるでしょう。

The air is getting colder day by day, yesterday I took Nisses out of my box and decorated in my room.

Give them a warm gaze and find the love they have received up to the moment, and they also spread the love for us.
